News » PureWave Announces a Groundbreaking Line of Advanced Indoor Small Cells
Monday, June 03, 2013
London, June 4, 2013  –  PureWave Networks, a rapidly growing developer of small cell solutions and compact base stations, today introduced Constellation Lyra – a line of advanced small cell solutions designed to deliver LTE, W-CDMA and WiFi coverage in indoor settings, all from a single elegant small cell base station. Constellation Lyra small cells are designed to achieve macro parity performance and features in an indoor setting, at a cost that finally makes large-scale small cell deployment practical.

“Constellation Lyra small cells achieve what operators have been asking us to deliver,” said Don Meiners, PureWave’s CEO. “Users don’t care whether they are connected to a macro base station or to a small cell, they just want their services and applications to work smoothly and without a hitch. Constellation Lyra small cells allow operators to provide this type of user experience by delivering the functionality and performance of a multi-mode macro base station from a tiny, easy to install device.”

Constellation Lyra small cells are powered through their Ethernet connection, install in seconds and utilize PureWave’s LightTouchTM technology that automates most basic provisioning and configuration activities. In addition, some Constellation Lyra configurations can support up to two simultaneous channels each of LTE and W-CDMA, thus greatly increasing user counts and enabling capacity intensive applications such as venue coverage.

Like other small cells in the PureWave Constellation family, Constellation Lyra small cells utilize a system on chip (SoC) from Texas Instruments. In addition to offering Constellation Lyra small cells commercially, PureWave also stated that it is collaborating with TI to offer a solution platform based on TI’s new TCI6630K2L SoC and AFE7500 analog front end transceiver to OEM customers. Customers can use this platform to quickly develop their own solutions or partner with PureWave to further reduce time to market and take advantage of PureWave’s small cell expertise and unique solutions.

“PureWave’s years of experience in building carrier grade small cell solutions and technical expertise in the market will enable customers to further reduce their time to market for new and advanced small cell solutions,” said Troy Coleman, product line manager, small cells, Texas Instruments. “We look forward to our collaboration with them on this important solutions platform.”
